Simon Walton joined QPR for a fee of around £350,000 from Charlton in 2007. Walton spent his early career at the club he supports Leeds United where he played a big role in helping them to the playoff final in 2006 when they lost out to Watford.

Walton won a move to Premiership Charlton under Iain Dowie and was loaned out to Ipswich to gain first team experience. Walton scored for Ipswich against QPR in a 3-1 win for the tractor boys and failed to make any sort of impact at the Valley before being sold to QPR.

Walton looked good in pre season before a nasty leg break in the win over Fulham saw him ruled out until December when he made his first team debut as a sub at Burnley.

He made his first start in the defeat at Plymouth but had a good game in defence and was then loaned out to Hull City for the rest of the season where he helped them win promotion to the Premiership.

Walton can play in defence or in midfield and will be hoping to make a go of it after a disappointing first season at Loftus Road.
