A vital game
for QPR which turned into a very scrappy performance by both teams.
Rangers started well scoring after just two minutes. It was a
very good goal, a simple move. Harper threw it out to Baraclough.
Baraclough did well to find Peacock whose cross was met by Rob
Steienr to head in from six yards out.
Rangers looked
comfortable and almost extended the lead with another nice move.
Darlington turned well with a great bit of skill and sent Kiwomya
through on the right wing. Kiwomya's cross was met by Baraclough
was shot hit the post. He should have scored but can count himself
unlucky as it was a good effort.
Tranmere then
got back into the game despite not looking like scoring. The atmosphere
perked up a bit when news of Sweden's first goal came through
and chants of "We Love you Sweden" followed. Rangers almost made
it 2-0 when Darlington's cross was headed home by Kiwomya but
the goal was ruled out for offside. None seemed to complain so
I assume he was offside.
Half time
came and as we all celebrated the Sweden result in the blue and
white bar, I began to worry. We must kill this team off quickly
as they could nick a goal from a set piece. Rangers began the
second half poorly giving Tranmere too much of the ball. We did
have a great chance to kill the game off but Rob Steiner blazed
over when Kiwomya was in a much better position.
Tranmere pressed
well and worked hard and got a reward when a corner was headed
home by the big fella at the back post. (no idea what his name
was). Lee Harper then picked up a knock in the ribs and groans
filled the stadium as Ademole Bankole warmed up. The unthinkable
happened and he was brought on as Harper seemed to be struggling.
Bankole gave
all Rangers fans several scares throughout the last 35 minutes
as it looked like Tranmere would steal three points. Rangers got
a winner from a Baraclough free kick on half way. He aimed for
Steiner whose knock down found Kiwomya. Kiwomya missed a sitter
but Peacock tapped home what proved to be the winner.
Rangers sat
back again though as the midfield went missing. Rob Steiner scored
a nice goal which was ruled out for offside although who was offised
is anyones guess. Steiner almost scored again but blazed over
from 12 yards. Tranmere couldn't manage a decent effort though
and Gerry Francis team hung on for the three points that neither
side really deserved.
Man of
the Match: Jermaine Darlington
Player
by Player
13. Lee Harper
: Looked good again and everything is crossed that he is fit for
Ipswich. 7/10
22. Jermaine
Darlington : Gets my man of the match for being the most inventive
player in our team. He tried to take on one man to many a lot
of times but is improving every week. 8/10
3 Ian Baraclough:
His best game for a few weeks. His crossing needs to improve but
better from Baraclough 7/10
5.Karl Ready
: showed some nice skills in the first half and did well against
an awkward Wayne Allison. 7/10
6. Danny
Maddix : Back to what we expect of Danny. He gave Bankole a telling
off and led the side well. 8/10
12. Matt Rose
: Solid and dependable but he can't get man of the match every
week. 8/10
27. Stuart
Wardley : He is improving and did nothing terribly wrong. He gives
100% but his passing needs to improve. 6/10
8. Gavin
Peacock : Scored again and looked good in patches but he needed
to get more out of his young partners in midfield during the second
half. Only a small complaint though. 7/10
21. Richard
Langley: Another average performance. Showed some nice stuff in
patches but he is a player who will learn from these games and
improve. 6/10
9. Rob Steiner
: Against teams like Tranmere, Rob looks ok but it is the top
teams he struggles against. Worked hard, should have had a hat
trick and I didn't like his diving act in the first half. 7/10
11. Chris
Kiwomya : Better from Chris. Missed his weekly sitter and couldn't
understand Tranmeres offside trap but he caused a few problems
and tried hard. 7/10
Subs
19. Ademole
Bankole : Brought panic to the supporters every time a cross came
in. A pretty hopeless keeper who looks more at home in Gerry Cottles
circus than Gerrys Blue and white army. 6/10
10. Kevin
Gallen : Didn't touch the ball in the 90 seconds he was on the
pitch
16. Keith
Rowland : Like Gallen was only on for a few minutes
