Q.P.R. 0

Fulham 0

Rangers made just one change to the side that drew with Barnsley. Richard Langley returned to midfield replacing George Kulscar. The game started early for the Rangers supporters with the upper Loft (especially the Q, P and R blocks) making loads of noise up to 20 minutes before the game with plenty of anti Fulham and pro QPR chants.

The teams came out to a huge roar from the crowd before both sets of supporters stood in near silence in honour of the late Sir Stanley Matthews. The only noise to be heard was the ringing of mobile phones and late comers to the ground.

Rangers kicked off attacking the School End and started with a quick tempo. The match began with some promise as both sides attacked well. Beck made a nice run and put Peacock clean through but keeper Maik Taylor cleared the danger. Beck did well again as Rangers caused some panic in the Fulham defence but couldn't muster a decent effort on target.

Fulham then pushed QPR back but like QPR they had very little threat up front. Ranger's fans were making a lot of noise with every Fulham touch greeted with boos before the first clear-cut chance of the game.

A cheeky back heel by Peacock sent Darlington clear and opened up the Fulham defence. His cross was a poor one but it did result in a corner. From the corner, Beck flicked on for Kiwomya who from just two yards out managed to head over the bar. Kiwomya claimed his shirt was being pulled but the striker should have done better.

Former Liverpool striker Karl Heinz Riedle then went close with a shot, which went wide, but Rangers created another great chance. A wonderful chipped cross by Darlington found Wardley clean through with just the keeper to beat but he volleyed well over the bar when he should have done better. Kiwomya had an appeal for a penalty turned down after he tried to clip the ball over Melville and player appeared to clear with his hand. The appeal was turned down and it would have been a little harsh to give a penalty for that.

Fulham then began to get back into the game and pushed QPR back with a series of corners just before half time. Bjarne Goldbaek got a lot of abuse from the Q block with chants of Chelsea reject before some idiot threw a coin at him. The referee saw this and I expect this will be reported to the FA. Well done mate! Godbaek produced two excellent corners which just needed a decent touch for a goal but once again Fulham were left short up front with Lee Harper dealing with everything very well.

As half time approached the usual "Get Langley off" shouts were heard after he gave the ball away. It always surprises me that he gets slaughtered for one mistake but players like Ready get a standing ovation for giving the ball away time and time again. Half time was notable for one thing.

A couple of Fulham fans got into the Lower Loft bar. One QPR fan knocked my pint over as he rushed to get involved but it was a minor incident and the police soon carried out the Fulham morons who ran in for a fight.

Anyway back to the football. Rangers started well again with Richard Langley and Jermaine Darlington combining well on the right. Langley showed all of his good points with a turn and go which left four players for dead he produced a wonderful cross straight onto Kiwomya's head but he managed to head down and the ball bounced over the bar. It was harder to miss than score that one and he knew it too.

Rangers were on top but could not produce the final ball that the approach play deserved and Fulham soon battled back in midfield as the game turned into a non-event. Fulham looked very dangerous on the counter attack but every time they produced nothing in the way of attempts at goal or even a decent final ball.

Riedle had two penalty claims turned down. He had a case for both but made such a meal of both incidents the ref just waved him away. (Isn't a dive a bookable offence??) Rangers were looking very comfortable in defence but the midfield seemed to tire as the game wore on.

A strange incident led to Matthew Rose being taken off. The player seemed to fall awkwardly on his elbow and was replaced by Paul Murray. Murray went to right wing back with Darlington on the left and Jermaine continued to cause problems with his skill and tricks. With the game coming to an end, Rangers made two more changes a Fulham were beginning to get on top. Langley and Kiwomya were replaced by Slade and Kulscar.

Not much else happened as the game ended the predictable 0-0 but Rangers will be happy that they had the better chances but the London Derby jinx continues. 5 derbies this year and no wins and no goals so far.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Jermaine Darlington

PLAYERS RATINGS

13. Lee Harper : Had a very good game, claimed every cross well and never looked like getting beat. 8/10

22. Jermaine Darlington : Very good game, showed some great skills and put in a nice ball for Wardleys chance. He needs to produce a better final ball but that will come in time. 8/10

3. Ian Baraclough : He looks to be struggling at left wing back and did a lot better in the middle. He gives the ball away too much on the left but was back to his best when Rose went off. 7/10

5. Karl Ready : Typical Ready, had a good battle with Riedle but gave away too many free kicks and seems to panic on the ball. 7/10

32. Darren Ward : A Good defender, his distribution is poor but he had a good game. 7/10

12. Matt Rose : as usual he played well but may have played his last game this season.

27. Stuart Wardley : Poor game from Stuart, Was the first ever QPR player on Skys player cam. I would like to have seen that as the game seems to pass him by sometime. Despite all that he still almost got the winner. 6/10

8. Gavin Peacock : Worked very hard in midfield and his back heel in the first half was superb. 7/10

21. Richard Langley : Has so much ability. He uses the ball so well and tackles back. Why he gets stick is a mystery. 8/10

36. Mikkel Beck : Some nice touches and won some good headers but needs better service if we are to see the best of him. 7/10

11. Chris Kiwomya : Tried hard but missed two sitters. I am sure he will bounce back and score soon. 6/10

Subs

7. Paul Murray : Not a wingback but did OK, poor final ball but you could say that about almost everyone tonight.

18. Steve Slade : Ran around a lot and almost got himself booked for being mouthy. 6/10

15. George Kulscar : Came on, kicked Kevin Ball had a nose bleed and that was it. 6/10
