QPR 2

Birmingham 2

R.Steiner Marcello (2)
C.Kiwomya

A very disappointing result tonight in a game QPR should have won easily. Rangers started slowly with Birmingham having the best of the early play. Jon McCarthey was causing Jermaine Darlington plenty of problems on the right. Marcello and Wreh looked lively but never really threatened.

Rangers created a few half chances, Wardley headed wide and Kiwomya and Langley both hit shots well wide of the target. Birmingham almost took the lead after some nice skills from Wreh left Maddix flat footed and but his neat chip was well held by Harper.

Danny Maddix then turned the game into Rangers favour with some tough tackles on the half way line and his sheer determination saw him set up a half chance for Steiner. Rangers began to keep the ball a bit better and took the lead just before half time.

A nice cross was met by Rob Steiner whose header hit the post and went in. Birmingham then appealed for a penalty as Alan Johnson threw himself on the floor. With no penalty given a yellow card should have followed but as you can guess the ref just played on. Just one of many crazy decisions by another terrible referee.

The second half began much better from QPR. We passed better and looked more dangerous. We got what should have been the killer goal after another good cross was headed back across goal and Chris Kiwomya scored with a overhead kick from about ten yards. Rangers could and should have got more. Rob Steiner was robbed of a clear penalty when chopped down by the keeper after almost scoring.

Rob was then elbowed in the head twice with free kicks given but no red cards!! The game changed when Rangers sat back and seemed happy with the nights work. Sloppy defending by Darlington allowed McCarthy to cross for an unmarked Marcello to score a tap in.

Rangers then went to pieces and seemed determined to hand the game to Birmingham. A long range shot from Marcello found the net to draw the game level and send Loftus Road into a state of shock. Rangers then started playing again and could have won the game. Paul Murray replaced the disappointing Langley before Ian Baracloughs free kick went narrowly wide and Rob Steiner and Chris Kiwomya both went close to a winning goal.

We would have taken a draw at 7.45pm but after the game, QPR fans were very disappointed with the outcome.
