A very poor game saw QPR scrape through to the second round. Rangers created very few chances and took the lead with a scrappy goal from Mike Sheron. He made a good run into the box before falling over and somehow knocking the ball into the net. Walsall then came back into it with a header straight at Harper turned into his own net by the former Arsenal keeper. In the last minute Mike Sheron found himself clean though with plenty of time only to shoot wide. In Extra time things improved. Danny Maddix scored from a corner and then sub Steve Slade scored a neat goal and followed it up with an over the top celebration. Man of the Match: Mike Sheron
