This
was a match QPR should have won but left fans wondering if better
times are ahead. Despite the result, the performance of the team
was a huge improvement on anything I have seen this season.
The players
battled and fought for every ball, the movement and passing was
excellent and the atmosphere was unlike anything I have witnessed
for a long time at QPR. QPR started well with Sheron and Gallen
going close and Richard Langley causing all sorts of problems.
United caught
QPR with a sloppy goal. Ready needlessly gave a way a throw in,
a poor clearance by Rose and bad marking from Baraclough saw Stuart
hit home from ten yards. United made it two with a counter attack.
Saunders did well to beat Morrow and his cross was placed home by
Katchouro.
To the team's
credit we never gave in and deserved better. The ref was terrible,
giving some awful decisions such as Langley shooting from distance
and hitting Bruce. The ball deflected well wide and a goal kick
was given despite Bruce holding his head in pain.
The second half
began with Rob Steiner coming on for Rowland and earning a penalty
straight away which Peacock converted. After that QPR controlled
the match. Gallen was twice brought down for blatant penalties but
nothing was given and Sheron showed his good and bad sides missing
an open goal with a free header and going on a brilliant solo run
and seeing his clever shot well saved by the keeper.
Langley, Peacock
and Gallen also went close before Katchouro was sent off for using
his elbow. He had to go and Borbokis should have joined him after
some terrible late challenges on Rose and Steiner. Karl Ready missed
two great chances to get us a point but in the end it just wasn't
to be our day. A standing ovation though and well deserved for the
team.
