QPR 2

Sunderland 2

D.Maddix K.Phillips
K.Gallen N.Quinn

A thrilling match at Loftus Road where the kick off was delayed by 15mins due to Crowd congestion.

QPR started with a very attacking line up, playing three forwards. Murray and Slade made way for Kiwomya and Dowie. Rangers started well with Iain Dowie going close from a Baraclough corner.

QPR were playing the better football when Sunderland broke after a mistake by Antti Heinola. Kevin Phillips latched onto a cross and scored a good goal on his comeback.

Rangers rallied though and created chances through good work by Dowie and Kiwomya. Another good Baraclough corner saw Danny Maddix head home the equaliser just before half time. A late tackle on Ian Baraclough by Kevin Ball saw the Sunderland captain sent off in injury time as Rangers gained the upper hand.

Just after half time Chris Kiwomya did well on the wing and crossed for Iain Dowie to set up Kevin Gallen who took his chance well. Rangers then gave the ball away a bit to much and needed an extra man in midfield to kill the game off.

We still created chances but not enough to finish the league leaders off. In the dying seconds Sunderland pressure paid off when Niall Quinn (who seemed to foul Ready) headed past Miklosko to gain a point for Sunderland. It was a fair result but Rangers have again came within seconds of beating one of the divisions best teams.

Man of the Match: Danny Maddix
