Q.P.R. 0

Sunderland 1

K.Phillips

The hardest start possible for any team was a trip to Sunderland and it proved difficult for Rangers.

I heard the match on Talk Radio whilst in a caravan in Weymouth. A holiday away with family seemed a good idea after the fixtures came out.

From the commentary it sounded like Rangers battled well and had a few chances, Gallen missing Rangers best efforts, something I fear will be said more than once this season.

Sunderland were reduced to long range efforts until Ian Baraclough handled on the line after Harper had looked to have been fouled.

A penalty was given and Baraclough was shown the red card. Phillips made no mistake from the spot, 1-0. Gallen had another chance for Rangers but it was well saved. QPR deserved a point according to Lou Macari but at least we didn't get stuffed which was mainly due to Lee Harper
