Rangers
made sure of first division survival with a superb 6-0 win over
Palace.
Rangers started
poorly and had very little of the ball. Slade and Kiwomya then combined
well on the wing for George Kulscar to strike a brilliant volley
into the top corner. Rangers still looked nervy though and several
free kicks were given away and Mullens almost equalised but his
shot went over.
Rangers almost
went two ahead when Peacock shot wide but a long clearance but Ludo
saw Kiwomya through on goal, his shot hit the post but he headed
the rebound in from close range.
The second half
saw Zinghi sent off for pushing the referee, a needles act by the
Palace player but it helped Rangers cause. The third goal killed
the game off, Scully free kick was dropped by Kevin Miller and Kiwomya
scored to send the crowd into ecstasy.
It was then
party time and a cross by Peacock saw Tony Scully hit a brilliant
volley into the top corner for the goal of the day.
Baraclough found
himself through on goal with ten minutes left, his cross saw Scully
pulled back and another sending off. Peacock wanted the penalty
to help him finish top goalscorer but Kiwomya took it and missed
before Slade managed to miss the rebound but Breacker touched it
home despite being offside.
The final goal
came when Kiwomya's header was well saved, the rebound was again
saved by Miller before Kiwomya made it third time lucky for the
hat trick. Slade then missed a great chance for seven but Rangers
won easily and the pitch invasion showed just how much this result
meant to the supporters.
Man of the
Match: Chris Kiwomya
