QPR 1

Grimsby 2

This was a sad day for me. The first match for QPR since I had returned to University. It felt weird watching Sports Saturday again instead of being at the ground to cheer the lads on.

I can only give you my view of the game, which was lying on a sofa in my front room over 200 miles away from Loftus Road. I sat quite relaxed and was buzzing when the reporter told me that Danny Maddix had given us the lead. "Playoffs now" was my claim, what a plonker.

The next report told of constant pressure by Rangers with Gallen and Breacker going close, a comfortable win I thought. Well it seems the fumes from the local factories had got to me as it all went wrong very quickly.

An Own goal by the goalkeeper, I still felt confident as half time came and went. The second half started and we were suddenly behind. Kingsley Black with the goal and that was that really.

The rest of the afternoon flew by and my Mum and Sister (who had travelled up for the weekend) had to suffer me moaning about relegation over dinner. The day wasn't all bad as I saw Something About Mary at the local Odeon, which was brilliant.

I read on the mailing list the next day that it was quite good actually, (the performance now not the film) and the future could be bright, well brighter than it looked a week ago.

Man of the Match: Danny Maddix
