The final game of the tour of Cornwall saw QPR face league opposition in the shape of Torquay United and it was a third win in a row for Neil Warnock.

The Rangers boss was without the injured Paddy Kenny so it was a return to the team for Radek Cerny who played behind a back four of Leigterwood, Connolly, Gorkss and Clint Hill. It was again a three man midfield with Faurlin Derry and Buzsaky starting for the third match n a row whilst up front Heider Helguson was joined by Leon Clarke and Jamie Mackie in what looks to be the shape we’ll play this season.

Rangers took an early lead with a well worked goal. Faurlin found Helguson and his ball wide for Clarke was a good one. Helguson then raced into the middle and dived onto an excellent cross to head into the bottom corner.

Leon Clarke produced the cross but then limped off with a thigh strain giving Hogan Ephraim another chance to impress.

Helguson missed two chances to extend Rangers lead but we didn’t have it all our own way with the League Two side more than matching us and were a little unlucky not to be level at half time.

Torquay began the second half on the front foot pushing for an equalizer and Cerny had to be at his best to keep out the home side. Rangers couldn’t hold on for long though and Chris Robertson fund space in the box to plant his header past Cerny and draw the scores level.

Warnock then made his final changes with Ramage, Stewart and Josh Parker all coming in and this gave us a new lease of life and saw us grab a second goal.

The impressive Josh Parker made it three goals in three games as he cut in on the left and powered a shot into the top corner of the net. Hogan Ephraim made sure of the win with a late goal, his fifth of pre season so far to end a successful week for QPR.

Torquay may feel a little hard done by but after a tough week of fitness work it’s encouraging that the players have been able to produce three decent performances and score plenty of goals.

Warnock clearly seems to favour a 4-3-3 system and which looks to exploit pace out wide and give Buzsaky and Faurlin the licence to attack that they rarely had last season.

Most encouraging of all is the emergence of Josh Parker who impressed in the final few games last season and has carried that into pre season scoring three goals and looking a real handful.
