Rangers lost their first match of pre season with a 3-1 defeat to Croatian side NK Karlovac.

Magilton made changes to the side that drew on Tuesday. Czech trialist Martin Lejsal started in goal with a back four of Ramage, Borrowdale, Gorkss and Hall. In Midfield Ainsworth and Ephraim started out wide with Alberti and Faurlin in the middle. Agyemang and Vine started up front.

There was no place for Dexter Blackstock who looks set to sign for Nottingham Forest this week.

The first half went well for Rangers and we took the lead when a through ball by Faurlin found Vine who scored at the second attempt past the keeper.

After the break Magilton made several changes with Mahon, Leigterwood, Buzsaky, Routlege and Helguson all coming on whilst trialist Alessandro Pellicori was given a chance to impress up front along with youngsters Brown and Oastler in defence.

Things didn't go well though when the local side equalised from the penalty spot then a deflected cross beat the keeper at the near post to make it 2-1. Rangers ended up conceding a third to make is a disappointing evening.

Manager Jim Magilton told the club’s official website: “I have learnt a lot more about my players tonight. No-one likes losing, least of all me, but the lads have got some more game time in their tanks and that is the most important thing at this time of year. I’ve learnt a lot throughout the tour and we’ll highlight those things to the lads over the coming days and weeks. Like we have said, everything is geared towards August 8 against Blackpool.”
