On paper a good result for QPR but in
reality it was a poor performance from Rangers.
Swansea dominated from start to finish
in a game they should have won comfortable. Iain Dowie switched
back to 4-5-1 with Mahon replacing Balanta.
Swansea started the better side but
created little in the way of chances. The big talking point came
on 25 minutes when Rowlands raced onto a Leigterwood pass and slid
in on the keeper knocking him out cold. The keeper was carried off
with a suspected broken cheekbone and with no substitute keeper
defender Alan Tate went in goal. Rowlands was booked but this should
have been a great opportunity to test the team without a goalkeeper
and go on to win the game.
Rangers being Rangers we didn;t manage
a single shot on target in the entire game as Swansea could have
played rush keeper and still not lost.
Swansea continued to dominate but Rangers
defended well and chances were few and far between in what turned
out to be a dreadful match. Rangers inability to even muster a shot
has already got some fans calling for Iain Dowie to go but you have
to point the finger at players in this situation who really should
be producing better.
Ledesma and Parejo came on to add flair
to the midfield but nothing changed and a free kick punched clear
by Tate was the only time Rangers got near the opposition goal.
Rangers also got five bookings including
a fifth for the season for Delaney who will now miss the Reading
game leaving us without a left back.
So not a great night for Rangers, as
I said at the start on paper it's a good result but questions need
to be asked as to why we couldn't even muster a shot on target.
