Sadly or fortunately depending how you
look at it no detailed match report this week as I write this after
a few too many beers and am off to Newcastle for a week on Sunday.
Rangers fans were in great voice throughout
on a boiling hot day at Bristol City.
Rangers started well playing some nice
football with the 4-5-1 working very well. Blackstock gave us the
lead after several chances were missed. The goal came from a long
ball forward and Blackstock fought his way to the ball and squeezed
the ball into the back of the net amid wild celebrations in the
away end.
City drew level when Rangers allowed
another cross to come in and Adebola was unmarked to smashed home
from ten yards.
The offside flag denied Ledesma before half time whilst Cook missed
a great chance shooting straight sat the keeper from ten yards out.
One problem was the referee who gave
us nothing all game and seemed desperate to send someone off. He
booked Ledesma for throwing the ball back to a City player who turned
his back and let it run to the dugout. His red card was the most
predictable part of the afternoon.
At half time we were happy with how
things were going but things got worse quickly.
Ledesma was quickly sent off for an
of the ball incident, He must be the first man to be sent off for
two bookings but nether offence warranted a free kick. No idea what
the second was for. Of course a two footed tackle from behind on
Damion Stewart was a warning later on when Maynard dived in and
obviously a far lesser offence than throwing a ball to the floor.
As it turned out Rangers were outstanding
in the second half keeping the ball well and rarely looking in trouble
Radek Cerny made one late great save from Adebola but in the end
Rangers thoroughly deserved a point.
Hard to pick players out with such a good team performance
but Connolly, Mahon, Leigterwood and Blackstock were all outstanding.
With more ambition we'd have won the game but
I'll take the point ahead of the two week break.
