After a two-week break for the Internationals it was back to Loftus Road as we looked to build on a good win over Norwich. Ipswich Town were the visitors for what is usually an entertaining game.

With no new manager announced yet it was down to Mick Harford to steady the ship again and he made one change to the side that beat Norwich. Michael Mancienne returned at right back after an injury layoff replacing Ben Sahar who I can only assume was injured. This meant a reshuffle for the rest of the team with Rowlands going on the left wing and Hogan Ephraim and his bright yellow boots went up front.

Ipswich started the game quite well and looked a threat going forward with Alan Lee and Billy Clarke showing good movement to get into some good positions. You could see how they have scored quite a few goals this season but at the other end they also looked like conceding, as Rangers looked a far more confident side than we have in previous weeks and worked hard to create a few openings.

The impressive Rowan Vine looked so comfortable with the ball at his feet and played some nice interchanges with Hogan Ephraim around the box but despite a great ball across the face of the goal by Ephraim Rangers couldn't finish it off with no one in the middle ready to tap the ball home.

Ainsworth then had a chance after the improving Leigertwood crossed and Ainsworth's header was saved by Alexander. Vine went closest to opening the scoring with a great run which started on the right and saw him dribble infield before shooting just wide of the post.

Rangers were playing some good football and looked well organised. Martin Cranie at the back looked an excellent player winning everything in the air and his positional sense was first class alongside Stewart.

Leigertwood and Ainsworth both tried their luck from distance but couldn't test the keeper before Rowlands went close with a shot from twelve yards, which was saved at the second attempt by Alexander. Despite our good approach play we still lacked a killer instinct up front and needed to finish off some of the chances we were creating.

As the half drew to an end Ipswich began to come more into the game with Alan Lee missing a glorious chance when Roberts did well and played a ball across goal but Lee couldn't finish it off.

At half time 0-0 was just about a fair reflection of the game, we'd created more chances but Ipswich were looking dangerous when they attacked down our left hand side with Barker showing signs of improvement but still looking the weak link in the back four.

The second half didn't start too well for Rangers though with our team looking half asleep and Ipswich were making all the running and creating chances. We had Cranie to thank for keeping us level as he cleared a Billy Clarke's effort off the line as the pressure increased on our defence. When the opening goal came it was no surprise that Ipswich got it and it turned out to be unstoppable.

A throw in on the right found former Fulham man Legwinski and he had far too much time and space to chest the ball down, look up and smash a brilliant volley high into the roof of the net giving Camp absolutely no chance. Some QPR fans even applauded the goal, it was certainly a goal of the highest quality.

After that it looked like Rangers might collapse as we struggled to create anything and came under more pressure. Alan Lee missed another good chance whilst every corner caused mayhem at the back for Rangers and it would have only taken the slightest of touches from an Ipswich player for the game to be killed off.

Mick Harford responded with a very attack minded substitution, which would go on to change the game. Mancienne was taken off with Nygaard sent up front. This meant a move to the left for Ephraim and a switch to right back for Rowlands. The move didn't have an instant impact but Nygaard began to get in the game winning headers and offering a physical presence up front which had been something we had been missing in recent weeks.

Ipswich were still on top though and it took a second change to really swing the game in our favour. Ainsworth went off with Moore coming on and although many will question this I thought it was a good move as Ainsworth had been poor and this allowed Ephraim to go on the right where he looks at his most dangerous. It's a twisted logic but having one attacking threat on the right was better than having nothing on either wing.

Rangers got level through Marc Nygaard after a nice move. Ephraim did well sprinting down the right and played a ball inside to Vine who knocked it forward for Nygaard to run onto and he placed his shot past the keeper into the back of net with an excellent finish. It was Nygaard's first goal at Loftus Road since a penalty against Watford in April 2006.

It was now end-to-end stuff as both sides pushed for a winner. Ipswich had the better of the chances with Cranie doing brilliantly to deny Lee with a last ditch challenge. De Vos was guilty of missing a sitter when he headed wide from six yards out as another corner caused havoc at the back for Rangers. Martin Rowlands then cleared one off the line after Camp had flapped at a corner.

It wasn't all one way traffic though as a good run and shot by Vine narrowly missed the target. We then had a penalty appeal waved away after Bolder played a one-two and broke into the box and appeared to be caught from behind as he went to shoot. Bolder was furious with the decision but not many other players appealed so it's difficult to know if it was a penalty or not from where I was.

Rangers then had a glorious chance to win it when Ephraim found Vine on the edge of the box and on loan striker had time and space to take a touch and finish it off but instead went for the spectacular volley which was just wide of the post.

With three minutes of injury time announced both sides still had chances to win it. Ipswich had the best of them as a ball into the box found Danny Haynes unmarked from close range but his header went in the only place that Camp could have got to and he produced a brilliant save.

At the other end we won a free kick, which Rowlands curled into the box for Stewart but we couldn't get an effort on target and the full time whistle meant we stayed rooted to the bottom of the table.

In the end a draw wasn't a bad result for us. Ipswich are a decent side and it was important on the back of our first win last week not to lose the next game.

Rowlands was excellent whilst Bolder and Leigertwood again did well. Cranie was the star man for me, reads the game well and good on the ball. It was clear which players on the pitch do not belong to us as Cranie, Ephraim and Vine all looked a class above the rest of our team.

Last ten minutes or so of the first half we sat back a bit too deep and they started to work out that Barker despite showing signs of improvement is the weak link. At one stage we had Leigertwood at left back trying to defend whilst Barker stood in the middle.

Credit to Harford who made a very good and positive substitution, which changed the game. Mancienne went off with Rowlands going to right back, Hogan to the left wing and Nygaard up front. Nygaard did what he is capable of and just held the ball up and won headers. By putting himself about we had the chance to play in there half and we began to get back into the game.

The new manager has something to work with as confidence does appear to be coming back and that's two unbeaten now. The big test will be on Tuesday at Preston and to be honest we still look like we face a hell of a battle to stay up but it's still a vast improvement on the early season home matches.
