Mick Harford's first and probably last game in charge ends in yet another defeat as our sorry start to the season continues.

Harford rang the changes for his first game as Caretaker manager. Zesh Rehmann, Ben Sahar, Stefan Moore and Damion Stewart were all dropped with new loan signings Jason Jarrett and Rowan Vine making debus. Martin Rowlands started the game at right back with Mikele Leigertwood in central defence and Hogan Ephraim started on the left wing.

Rangers started the game brightly and had early chances to go ahead. Rowan Vine created an opening for Blackstock and his ball across the box found Ainsworth who shot wide. Vine then had two chances to open his account for his new club but couldn't find the target.

With Rangers looking impressive going forward against a side who haven't won at home all season the next passage of play was rather predictable as with Colchester's first attack they took the lead. Mark Yeates did well at a corner smashed a shot towards goal which Camp pushed against the post and rebound hit Leigertwood who was trying to knock it away for a corner but got his angles all wrong.

So 1-0 to Colchester but Rangers fought back and were level within ten minutes with a deserved equaliser. Hogan Ephraim played a one-two with Rowan Vine and the on loan youngster broke into the box and slotted the ball past the keeper to get his first goal for QPR against the club where he spent much of last year on loan.

Before we could finishing celebrating we were quickly behind again with more poor defending. A ball into the box by Granville saw Izzet run from deep and no one tracked him, he was unmarked and placed a header past Camp to give his side the lead.

Clive Platt then had a great chance to make it three when he was left in acres of space in the box but Camp saved his shot. Colchester got the third and killed the game off before half time. It came from a free kick which Yeates too, Camp had it covered but the ball took a huge deflection and left Camp stranded. Typical of our luck at the moment that everything they hit went in.

Mick Harford must have had a few words at half time as Rangers came out looking to get back in the game. We were still looking dodgy at the back but got back into the game with a goal from Rowan Vine. Ainsworth did well on the right and played a ball into Vine who held off a challenge and shot past the keeper at the near post. So we were back in the game but typical Rangers we quickly fell apart again and conceded another one.

This time it was Clive Platt who scored the goal after a good cross into the box and the big striker rose above Cullip to head past Camp. After that Adam Virgo had a golden chance to make it five but missed the target and Lisbie had a goal disallowed.

To Rangers credit they kept going and continued to create chances but Jarrett, Ephraim and Vine couldn't hit the target and create an exciting finish.

So in the end yet another defeat leaving QPR still without a win this season and looking like certainties for relegation. There are positives to take from the game with Rowan Vine looking very impressive along with Ephraim but again it was at the back where the problems le with the defence getting no protection from Bolder and the rest of the midfield and continuing to make basic errors which gift teams goals.

Rangers face Norwich at home next and will hope to have anew manager in charge by the then. Of the latest contenders Glenn Roeder appears to be in contention for a job at the club (although probably not as manager) after an impressive interview whilst Stuart Pearce was at the game and seen in deep conversation with Falvio Briatorie and Gianni Paladini during the second half which could be interesting.
