Rangers record when playing on a Tuesday night has been pretty dismal this season and you have to go back to October for the last time we won under the floodlights at Loftus Road.

The visit of Blackpool though was probably our best chance for some time to put an end to that unwanted record and give us a chance to move into the top half.

De Canio made just one change to the side that lost at Sheffield Wednesday with Fitz hall replacing Damion Stewart. The options on the bench though were limited with Hogan Ephraim suspended we had just one attacking player among the subs in Angelo Balanta.

The game started pretty well for both sides who were looking to attack and get an early goal. Blackpool were backed by a noisy away following and looked pretty decent when they got the ball down but found it hard to finish off their good build up play.

Rangers were looking to get Rowan Vine in the game as often as possible and with Delaney on the overlap we looked a real threat going forward as well. It took ten minutes for us to open the scoring and it was yet another very special goal from Akos Buzsacky.

The move started when Vine found Agyemang on the left and the big striker held off his man and played a nice ball to the far post where Buzsacky was waiting and he took a step back before swinging his left foot at the ball and he aimed an inch perfect lob over the keeper and into the bottom corner. It was hard to tell if he meant it or not at first but after seeing the goal on television since it is clear he picked his spot out beautifully.

Rangers relaxed after the goal went in and were looking to play on the counter attack which proved to be successful. Agyemang and Blackstock both had half chances to extend the lead but Blackpool never looked out of the game and dominated possession in the middle of the park without forcing Camp into a save. Rangers did have Connolly to thank though who came across to cover Delaney and made an excellent sliding tackle to clear the danger.

The second goal came before half time and it was another beauty. Connolly won the ball in the Blackpool half and found Vine right out on the left wing, he took a touch inside and burst into the box past two challenges before placing the ball into the bottom corner past the keeper for his sixth goal of the season.

This should have been game over and Rangers looked very dangerous in the closing stages of the half with Buzsacky denied by an excellent save from a long range volley and from a similar position right on half time he fired another volley wide of the post.
The second half started well for Rangers as we got a third goal of the night. A mistake by the full back saw Vine capitalise and burst down the left and play the ball back Agyemang who showed excellent awareness to square the ball to Rowlands who had the simple task of finding the back of the net from close range.

Rangers then seemed to flick a switch and stop attacking for the rest of the game. We invited Blackpool onto us with an inevitable outcome. I didn't think we had been three goals betters than Blackpool and the introduction of Ben Burgess gave Blackpool a goal threat up front which got them back in the game.

They began to create a few chances but failed to test Camp before Delaney gave the ball away on the left and a neat ball into Burgess saw the big striker run into space and place a similar finish to Rowan Vines in the first half into the bottom corner. The Blackpool fans sensed a chance to get back into the game and were right behind the team with their own drummer banging out several songs really seemed to lift their side.

Wes Hoolihan on the wing was having a very good game and went close after a good run before being denied by lee Camp. Ian Evatt then had a chance volleying just over the bar so it was no real surprise when they got a second goal. It came from a corner and Camp was rooted to his line as Mcphee rose to head home from close range. The way the game was going a draw looked inevitable and De Canio looked to tighten things up with Mahon coming on for Agyemang.

Luckily for Rangers though Blackpool appeared to run out of ideas and lost momentum in the last fifteen minutes and it was Rangers who looked more like getting the next goal. Rowlands twice went close from outside the box before Rowan Vine's deflected shot was saved by the keeper.
Kieran lee and Zesh Rehmann both came on to give us the most defensive side I've seen at QPR for quite some time to try and negotiate the last four minutes of injury time.

Blackpool couldn't create that one last chance though despite getting into some good positions and we hung on for a vital victory. Results elsewhere made it a big win for us, if we'd failed to win this we'd have dropped to 18th and in big trouble but the win took us into the top half. I think that shows how tight the division is and the line between success and failure is a very fine one at the moment.

It was a good game though and Blackpool were one of the best teams I've seen at Loftus Road this season. They came to win the game and played some lovely football especially in the second half, it was only when they went route one in the final ten minutes that we looked comfortable against them.

Rowan Vine just edged out Martin Rowlands to win the man of the match award. Vine scored one and made one and was a threat to the visitors all night. Matthew Connolly also had a good game at the heart of the Rangers defence.

So a big win for Rangers that sees us move into the top half of the table for the first time since January 2006.
