Following on from Tuesday's point at Leeds John Gregory named an unchanged side for the visit of Ian Holloway's Plymouth.

Much had been made of Holloway's first return to Loftus Road since he was put on gardening leave last year but the man himself looked to play things down and as the photographers waited for the picture of him coming into his old dugout Ollie stayed in the dressing room leaving them without the picture they wanted.

Some fans gave a brief rendition of thank you Ian Holloway as the game kicked off but for the most part all the attention was quite rightly focused on the players rather than the managers.

Rangers started the game well playing at a furious pace and were almost in front in the first minute. A mix up in the back four saw Dexter Blackstock run clean through, he only had the keeper to beat but just as he did at Leeds Blackstock wasted the chance as the keeper denied him. Cook's effort from the rebound was also saved and we really should have been a goal up.

It was a cracking atmosphere early on as Rangers chased and harried the ball at every opportunity and forced a few early set pieces which little came from.

The returning Camp got a great reception from the QPR fans at the start of the game and was having his name sung loudly again when he made an excellent save from Ebanks-Blake pushing his shot wide of the post.

Plymouth were starting to get back into the game and were passing the ball around well as we chased shadows but from open play they were creating very little. The much talked about Scott Sinclair showed glimpses of his ability when he put the ball through Mancienne's legs and ran through down the left, his low cross was cleared for a corner which Camp dealt with comfortably enough.

Gareth Ainsworth was having a tough afternoon on the right failing to find a blue and white hoped shirt with a pass and he was lucky not be booked after a strange battle with Sinclair as the two of them looked like they were trying to rugby tackle each other.

A set piece looked the most likely way for the deadlock to be broken and Plymouth came close with a free kick on the right, which Nallis headed just over the bar.

Rangers set pieces had been pretty poor and we created virtually nothing from open play which was no surprise really when our most creative player was being asked to play up front with his back to goal. Cook's strength has always being playing out wide, running at defenders and getting balls into the box, when he plays with his back to goal he simply can't have the same effect and we end up relying on a set piece for a goal.

Plymouth took the lead midway through the first half and in truth it had been coming. A free kick lofted into the box was headed across goal by Ebanks-Blake and Nallis got above his man to head past Camp. It was a well-worked free kick from the visitors but we really should have defended the set piece better than we did.

Plymouths tails were up now and Rangers looked a little shell shocked by it all. They didn't really make it count though and as the half came to an end Rangers had a late chance to draw level but McCormack again denied Blackstock and Cook.

At half time it looked bleak for Rangers, we badly needed to get Cook back on the left wing and either Jones or Furlong on to partner Blackstock. Ray Jones must be wondering why he signed a new deal as he has hardly been picked since he committed his future to the club.

The second half saw Rangers line up the same though and were almost 2-0 down when Ebanks-Blake broke through but we had Timoska to thank when he came across for a great last ditch tackle.

Rangers began to push forward but we still weren't creating a great deal. Gareth Ainsworth saw a shot deflected wide and he appealed for a penalty after clashing with the keeper but nothing was given.

Gregory then switched it moving Cook out wide and Rowlands up front and Rangers almost immediately began to take control of the game. Cook and Timoska linked well on the left and whipped in some dangerous balls before Rangers drew level.

It came from a corner as Rowlands lofted the ball to the far post, the keeper rose for the ball and appeared to get his hands on the ball but under pressure from several players he dropped it and the ball fell to Cook who at the second attempt managed to fire the ball into the back of the net. The crowd cheered but half expected it to be disallowed but when the goal was given the home fans went berserk whilst the Plymouth players were seething. They clearly thought it was a foul and I think that they had a point to be honest although the TV footage seems to indicate that it was a Plymouth defender, which barged into the keeper and knock the ball out of his hands. Still, considering we had a goal disallowed for a keeper dropping the ball against Southampton I guess some will say things do even themselves out over a season.

Rangers were on the front foot now and dominated the game with Cook in fine form on the left and Bolder winning the ball and using it effectively in the middle. On the right Ainsworth was improving but still lacked a final ball and was tending to just look for free kicks which were easy to come by as their full back continually blocked the Rangers winger.

Ainsworth did get one good cross in which Blackstock headed wide before he found Rowlands and the midfielder playing up front lobbed the ball over the keeper and just over the bar.

At the other end Camp made a good save from Norris to keep the score levels but it was Rangers who looked more like getting the winner.

Rangers were helped when Plymouth went down to ten men when Nallis stupidly kicked the ball away when Rangers won a free kick and earned his second yellow card, a player of his experience really should know better.

Gregory finally made a change with ten minutes left to bring on Furlong and play with two natural strikers. The change saw Rangers go agonisingly close to a winner.

Plymouth were on the rack and a ball into the middle found Furlong who fired a shot in which the keeper saved with his thigh and I don't think he knew much about it. Furlong then had the ball in the back of the net as he controlled a through ball and place his shot into the bottom corner but the linesmen flagged for offside, it was a very close decision but impossible to tell if he was on or offside from where I was sitting.

In the end both sides shared a point, which saw Rangers stay out of the bottom three on goal difference. Not the best result we could have got especially against ten men but we only had ourselves to blame for blowing a great opportunity.

I thought Gregory got it wrong again and cost us two more points. Cook up front is pathetic, he can't play with his back to goal and is a complete waste, as soon as he went onto the left we looked a different side, sadly it was Rowlands who went up front rather than one of the two strikers on the bench. Bizarre to say the least, when Furlong finally came on about half an hour too late he had one disallowed and forced a very lucky save from the keeper.

I'd have taken Ainsworth off at half time who was doing nothing and put either Jones or Furlong up front. In the end it's 2 points dropped as Plymouth were rocking in the second half especially with 10 men and that could come back to haunt us at the end of the season. Still we have 2 winnable games coming up and we have to take points from them if we are going to stay up.

It was good to see Holloway back at QPR and I thought he showed some real class with his comments after the game praising QPR and refusing to slag off the club. A shame then that Gianni Paladini allegedly saw fit to make a few childish remarks outside the stadium mocking Ollie and some of the fans who had stayed behind to get his and the players autographs. Whether it was meant as a joke or not only Gianni knows but at best it was a rather juvenile way for a football club chairmen to act.
