Well
we've seen
some shit
this season
but last night
has to be
the worst
of the lot.
It's hard
to know where
to start summing
up last nights
game.
Gary Waddock
kept the side
unchanged
so once again
there was
no place in
the side for
Langley, Donnelly
or Baidoo
as Waddock
went with
workers rather
than creativity
in central
midfield.
Rangers started
quite brightly
as Lee Cook
went close
before Shittu
headed a free
kick over
the bar. We
took the lead
after seven
minutes when
a long throw
by Lomas was
flicked on
by Youssouf
and Marc Nygaard
appeared to
miss hit his
shot and it
went under
the keeper
for 1-0. The
celebrations
around the
ground were
muted and
this should
have been
the start
f an easy
win.
Stoke didn't
look interested
and we should
have extended
the lead when
lee Cook was
brought down
for a penalty.
Gareth Ainsworth
grabbed the
ball but never
looked confident
and his spot
kick was easily
saved.
After that
it was all
downhill.
We played
no football
at all instead
preferring
to hoof it
long to the
front two
whilst the
midfield just
stood and
watched.
Rangers
were dealt
a blow when
Youssouf,
who had looked
useful early
on, was taken
off with a
nasty looking
injury. Stefan
Moore was
the surprise
choice to
replace him
and his quick
sprint onto
the pitch
was his only
contribution
of the evening.
The rest of
the half was
dire stuff.
Me and Carly
counted the
passes in
the first
half, 3 was
the most QPR
managed in
a row before
hoofing it
and that included
the roll out
from the keeper.
Stoke managed
7 in a row
at one stage
and should
have got level
but once again
Paul Jones
saved the
day with two
excellent
saves before
Chadwick hit
the bar with
the Rangers
defence all
over the place.
Half time
couldn't come
quickly enough
and I don't
think I was
alone in seriously
considering
going home
at half time,
that's how
bad the first
half was and
the second
half was even
worse.
For 20 minutes
nothing happened
as we hoofed
it to them
and they hoofed
it back to
us. I don't
think I've
ever been
so bored at
a football
match.
Ainsworth
had a shot
and at the
other end
Jones made
another couple
of good saves.
The game was
crying out
for someone
to put their
foot on the
ball in midfield
and with the
strikers become
more and more
isolated we
badly needed
Furlong and
Langley on.
The change
didn't happen
though until
it was far
too late.
Stoke were
woeful but
we were even
worse and
gifted them
two goals
in quick succession.
The first
came after
Shittu blocked
the run of
a Stoke forward
and gave away
a penalty.
Despite the
protests it
looked clear
cut to me.
The penalty
was dispatched
into the corner
with Jones
going the
wrong way
and suddenly
Stoke sensed
victory.
Finally Langley
was brought
on to replace
Bircham and
before he
could get
a touch we
were 2-1 down.
More laughable
defending
this time
by Shittu
gifted them
a chance in
the box which
left Jones
with no chance.
So 2-1 down
and now Furlong
came on for
Ainsworth
with Langley
going out
wide.
The
change worked
as finally
we had someone
to hold the
ball up and
some creativity.
Cook was suddenly
in the game
and supplied
chances for
Moore, Furlong
and Langley
late on but
it wasn't
to be and
Rangers got
exactly what
they deserved.
Nothing. The
team were
rightly booed
off after
producing
another candidate
for worst
performance
of the season
and I think
this one might
be a winner.
I really am
fed up now
of this team.
We were promised
an overnight
change in
style by Waddock,
it's been
a bloody long
night is all
I can say
as we're even
worse than
we were under
Holloway at
the moment
who at least
had the sense
to play a
creative player
in central
midfield,
ok it did
take him 3
years to work
that out but
when fit he
tended to
have either
Gallen, Rowlands
or Langley
in the middle
during the
last 16 months
of his time
at QPR.
Waddock really
does have
to get rid
of this Bircham/Lomas
combo as it
doesn't work,
especially
at home against
a side as
bad as Stoke
and before
that Brighton.
As soon as
Langley came
on we actually
created something
before he
was shifted
to the right
wing within
5 minutes,
wonder what
people would
have said
if Holloway
had done that?
If this keeps
up I hope
Waddock has
some good
gardening
tools as he
might need
them in a
few weeks.
A couple of
questions
bug me. What's
happened to
Bailey, Donnelly
and Baidoo?
If we're not
playing Baidoo
due to his
contract problem
that seems
stupid to
me, play him
and give him
an incentive
to stay. If
the defence
has improved
as much as
fans on the
.org are saying
it has, then
why are we
giving away
6 clear cut
chances a
game and in
almost every
game under
Waddock the
keeper has
been man of
the match.
To be fair
I don't actually
blame Waddock
for everything,
he's got the
same problem
Ollie had
in that although
he wants us
to get the
ball down
and play,
the players
he's picking
are simply
not good enough
to carry that
out.
Crewe are
next up and
I'd expect
to see some
big changes
to the team
in a game
we really
should win.
