Not a match report as such but with
such anger and disappointment raging inside I felt it was best just
to have a rant instead of going through what happened in the game.
Hopefully I'll feel inspired enough tomorrow to write an actual
report.
You can talk and moan about managers
until you are blue in the face. You can spend the rest of this week
screaming for a new manager if you want. But in my humble opinion
once again tonight QPR fans, the QPR manager and QPR as a club were
let down by the players.
Of the players we have fit I felt
Ollie picked possibly the best side available. Shittu has been disappointing
in the last few weeks and many have called for him to be dropped.
Palmer was back in defence, Padula started as did Burgess and our
best two fit strikers started the game.
We played a 4-4-2 we virtually the
same team that got us to to the top of the league two months ago
(only Shittu, Gallen and Rose missing by my reckoning) The team
picked should have been good enough to beat most division two teams,
they didn't ever look like winning this game though.
Quite what Holloway is supposed to
do now I don't know. Perhaps the call for him to go will grow louder
with the inevitable defeat on Friday, whatever. If we appoint Arsene
Wenger tomorrow he'll still have the same players and have to face
gutless performances from his players as Holloway had to suffer
tonight
A word or two on a few players.
Williams was a disgrace, couldn't
get past his man all night showing he is not a winger then went
back to left back and got even worse.
Palmer was awful in defence. His worst
performance since joining Rangers. He was utter shite
Carlisle looked fucked, he needs a
rest from the first team.
What the hell has happened to Forbes,
his confidence has gone
Bircham was dead on his feet in extra
time, the one thing I felt Ollie did get wrong and he should have
been taken off. Mind you Williams was so piss poor you can see why
he went off instead.
Furlong, what a pathetic excuse for
a striker,. Won one header all night and as he walked up to take
his penalty I got my bag and got ready to go home. Credit for having
the bottle to take one but he never looked like scoring it.
Thomson was alright when we played
the ball to his feet but that wasn't to often.
Only player to come out with credit
was Oli who had a good ten minute spell in the second half. Apart
from him Murphy did ok and Langley showed glimpses of quality but
nowhere near enough.
That was quite simply one of the worst
performances and one of the worst nights I can remember as a QPR
fan. It took 25 minutes to get into the stadium despite only 50
people in a queue to get in. The lower loft had one turnstile open
and some of our fans wanted exact seat numbers for tickets, for
Christ's sake sit where you like! We asked for 2 tickets and the
bloke asked what block, what row? With people shouting hurry up
behind we didn't give a fuck but he took and age to find us a ticket.
We ended up sitting where we liked.
The performance was bad enough but
the nasty atmosphere in the first half with every QPR player being
called a c**t and the team getting crazy abuse when Vauxhall dared
to actually attack us. Carlisle told the Loft to fuck off by the
look of it and i couldn't blame him. Not defending the players performance
but the fans were never behind the team. Amazingly most of the abuse
thrown at the team was while we were 1-0 up.
Of course that had nothing to do with
the result, the fans don't win or lose football matches and if you
don't like what people are saying and the mood of where you are
sitting you do what I did and move for the second half. Just thought
that was worth a mention though as I want to get this off my chest,
I mean how can I sleep after that performance.
Full credit to Vauxhall Motors, they
deserved it and should have won it before we got to penalties. So
that's £130,000 out of the window and I would guess that ends the
chances of us getting Sir Les back ( I was guessing we'd pay him
out of that). The end of the game was heart breaking for me, I wasn't
shocked but seeing my girlfriend in tears brings it home to you
how low we have sunk.
What do we do know then?
Sack the manager?
Well I don't think that's the answer,
it's the easy answer but whoever is in charge I doubt they would
have picked a better side tonight from who we have and as for motivating
them do the players really need a manager to inspire them for an
FA Cup game?
He can work on tactics, set pieces,
patterns of play etc all week but if they go on the pitch and play
like that what's the point in working so damn hard all week. If
they don't want to play for him why did they sign for QPR with ollie
as manager?
No manager is perfect and if the players
think they can do better elsewhere perhaps they should give Chris
Kiwomya or Karl ready a ring and see if the grass really is greener
on the other side. We've sacked managers int he past to please the
players.
Sacking Francis was supposed to get
a reaction out of the players, it didn't and the same happened after
Houston left. The players were supposed to be playing shit becasue
he was manager but they got even worse after he left.
Change the team?
Well easier said than done. Would
be nice to see Wes Daly get a game but apart from him who else do
we have to come in and really change things in two days? Sadly no
one. Pacquette and Leroy are decent players but no better than the
current crop of strikers we have missing chance after chance every
week.
Honestly I don't know what needs
to be done. The players need to have a good hard look at themselves
and begin going back to basics passing and moving off the ball.
Ian Holloway has a massive job ahead of him to lift the players
now, I don't envy him.
As for us the fans, we have a big
part to play on Friday. We have to get right behind the team and
sing our bollocks or boobies if your a girl off. I expect many will
be all out for the managers head now and for those of you who are
stop and think for a minute.
This result was unacceptable but why
did we lose this game. Was it poor team selection? Poor Tactics?
or Piss Poor performances from well paid professional footballers.
I think it's the later but you can't sack a player can you.
