Being away for the weekend I missed the Tranmere game and it sounds as if I was pretty lucky to miss what sounds like a dire performance. Here's a few comments made by supporters on the QPR Mailing list which sum up what happened on Saturday.

Justin Pieris

We were awful, they were awful - lost count of the number of times the ball was pumped aimlessly into the air. Gallen was very good again - but really under-utilised out on the right.

We missed Langers. having said all that, we were 1-0 up thanks to the most unlikely goal a thumping volley from Palmer.

They didn't look threatening at all with 10 mins remaining. They then sis a double substitution and our defence went awol. their first was a case of not playing the whistle.

The lino had flagged for an offence, our players stopped, the ref waved play-on and Tranmere's players didn't stop. The second was a similar goal with an unmarked player in our box.

Truly inept awful amateur defending. Whilst Murph was to blame, I think the other three defenders were equally to blame for not picking up the loose men (again ... sigh).

3 points thrown away. Tranmere defo didn't deserve them, but then again neither did we really.

I am really worried by Luton now.

We were quite awful in the first half as we just hoofed the ball up to the hopeless Angell who failed to win it or control it.

Once or twice, Cook went on a run and we looked half decent but that was it. We actually played some decent football on the ground and out to the wings for a short period in the second half.

Unfortunately the chances created both fell to Angell who missed one header appallingly and then headed too close to the keeper from point blank range.

Gallen then did well on the right, cut back and in, but his left foot shot was saved by the keeper with his feet. The ball bounced out to the edge of the box where Palmer volleyed it well, back just inside the post.

Then as usual when we take a goal lead we stopped attacking, surrendered the midfield and sat back. This time though our luck ran out and Tranmere not only took control of the game but actually scored from the chances they created as Murphy was caught in possession for the first, the rest of the defence stopped playing as the linesman's flag went up for a foul by Bircham which the ref waved play on.

Simple cross and easy goal. The winner came when Murph failed to clear a through ball - another simple cross and an unmarked player in the box scored easily.

We got what we deserved and it's been coming all through our good run recently. You can't expect to keep winning games 1-0 by playing well for 10-15 mins, scoring, then defending desperately for the rest of the match; eventually your luck will run out and it did yesterday.

You have to wonder though whether Padula would have made the same mistakes.

The first goal was probably more frustrating as Murphy lost the ball as him and Cook were virtually standing in the same spot on the halfway line, Tranmere broke well and our defence just stopped as the ref waved play on.

It's a shame we don't seem able to start games better as we looked pretty good for most of the 2nd half, roared on by the Loft. Tara took his goal very well, Angell had a couple of very good opportunities to score his first goal but for all our pressure round the box there weren't that many chances.

Gallen did a passable job on the right but needs to be much more involved playing up front, hopefully Langley will be back for Chesterfield and normal order will be restored.
