A week is a long time in football. Seven days ago we were celebrating our biggest away win nine years but a few days and one bad performance later the Internet was full of criticism for the team and manager. If you believed what you read we were on the verge of a crisis at Loftus Road.

Holloway's tactics and team selection have been questioned by many over the last week so the team he put out for this game was interesting to say the least. With Furlong, Bircham, Bean and Thomas all missing most people we changed formation to a 4-3-3.

Simon Royce replaced Digby in goal. The back four was the same as Tuesday with Clarke Carlisle making his first league start since his injury and he got a fantastic reception from the Rangers fans. The main talking point over the last week is why is Matthew Rose and Karl Connolly in the team. Well they started again but this time Rose was partnered by Langley and palmer in midfield and the return to the middle for Richard Langley was something we have been looking forward to for some time now.

Connolly partnered Kevin Gallen and Dennis Oli who made his first start as a Rangers player. It was an attacking system designed to try and get an early goal and kill off a low on confidence Swindon and for the first ten minutes we played quite well. Richard Langley hit one shot, which was well saved, and we were playing some nice stuff.

We still looked uncertain at the back though and Sam Parkin should have given them the lead when he had a free header but Royce did well to save it.

With the defence sorting themselves out we quickly broke and Dennis Oli found himself one against one with the last defender. He did well using his strength and pace to get into a shooting position and his effort went just wide of the post. Oli was making an encouraging start to the game linking well with Gallen.

We were on top and Danny Shittu looked like he had given us the lead with a powerful header but Swindon managed to get a body in the way of it and clear the danger. Tommy Williams was also getting forward and had a shot hit the side netting.

Swindon though were looking very dangerous from set pieces. Royce had to make one good save to keep the scores level and they had a few half chances but Carlisle was having a good game winning everything in the air and keeping this organised at the back.

The game went a bit stale though and we failed to take advantage of our early possession. Ian Holloway changed things midway through the half moving Palmer back into defence and switching to a 3-5-2 formation. Karl Connolly played a bit deeper and seemed to get more involved in the game. We were still pumping far to many high balls up to Gallen and Oli and apart from a few long range shots we didn't look like scoring.

Most of the entertainment came from the stands. With the atmosphere going a bit quiet the P Block began to sing to the superman theme tune, "der derder der der der der der der derder der der CLARKE CARLISLE" The Q block gave the song plenty of stick but it got louder and louder and hopefully the new Clarke Carlisle song will be around for good.

Half time saw the usual boos from some fans whilst most of the others were already in the bar trying to work out what had gone wrong. The truth was not a lot had gone wrong we just needed a goal to get some confidence back. We started the second half much better with the new system working well and Kevin Gallen was superb up front.

It was Gallen who made things happen with a great pass to Matthew Rose who for the first time this season began to make runs into the box and support the strikers. Rose had space and time and hit a shot against the post, the ball rolled along the line to hit the other post and come out, it looked like luck was against us but there was Kevin Gallen to smash it home from two yards out.

The Rangers fans were delighted and talk of a crisis was put to one side for a few days. Rangers were on top now and playing some good stuff.

Karl Connolly broke through the middle and was brought down outside the box. Richard Langley took control of the situation and curled a brilliant free kick into the back of the net from 25 yards out. It was the same as his goal against Wrexham last season and he ran straight to Ian Holloway to celebrate with the manager.

Richard Langley was showing how good he can be in central midfield and although he made a few mistakes he was by far out most creative player. We saw the game out comfortably enough after that. We had a few more chances with Gallen and Oli going close and Rose hit one cracking shot near the end, which the keeper did well to save.

Andy Thomson replaced Oli towards the end of the game and almost scored with a shot from outside the box. Swindon had a few late chances but the defence held on and we move into the top six with this win.

With several key players missing for us it was a great result and we played well in the second half. With Richard Langley back in the middle of the pitch and Clarke Carlisle lasting the full ninety minutes the future is looking a lot brighter. Man of the Match: Kevin Gallen

2. Terrell Forbes: His distribution was not at it's best but he was strong defensively and played well. 7/10

33. Tommy Williams: One of his poorest games for us so far, he did well defensively but going forward he gave the ball away far t often. 6/10

5. Clarke Carlisle: Great to see him back, he is a quality player and helped Shittu through the game talking to him all the time. He won everything in the air and looked like he had never been away 8/10

6. Danny Shittu: A much better game from Shittu. He looked far more comfortable alongside Carlisle and got even better when we switched to a back three. 7/10

4. Steve Palmer: He was pretty poor in midfield but when he was back in defence his performance improved. 6/10

7. Matthew Rose: His usual self in the first half, bottling out of 50/50 tackles and giving the ball away but after the goal he was a different player. His passing improved and he began to get much more involved. 7/10
