Rangers started the game making three changes to the team that won on Saturday. Paul Furlong replaced the injured Andy Thomson as we switched to a 4-4-2. Tommy Williams replaced Danny Murphy and Wes Daly was left out with Richard Langley starting on the right.

The change saw us play some nice football with Langley and Bircham always involved in midfield but it was Stockport who had the best chance early on. A cross by Luke Beckett was met by Ben Burgess who headed over when he should have done better.

Stockport were pressing forward but we defended pretty well and soon came into the game more as an attacking force.

Kevin Gallen's right-footed shot was easily saved by the keeper and despite another impressive performance from Gallen his finishing was disappointing.

Richard Langley and Paul Furlong both had chances but saw shots saved before Karl Connolly had our best chance. Gallen hit a good shot which was well saved but Connolly got onto the rebound reacting quickly to the situation but he couldn't convert the chance shooting wide.

Connolly had another good chance after a Gallen shot was saved but again missed and Matthew Rose had a shot go wide of the post. At half time we were looking pretty good and started the better side in the second half. Gallen had another shot saved before Stockport's Player/manager Carlton Palmer did well to prevent Paul Furlong from scoring the opening goal.

Stockport's Lee Jones was having a busy night and saved again from Marc Bircham and Steve Palmer then headed what looked like a certain goal before Kevin Gallen attempted to finish the chance off and headed over the bar.

Against the run of play Stockport broke and took the lead. Ben Burgess hit a strong shot which was parried by Culkin and Luke Beckett had an easy header to put the home side ahead.

Stockport began to put some pressure on and had a couple of chances to kill us off but Rangers refused to give in and fought back well.

More good work by Gallen saw him cross for Connolly who was brought down in the box for a penalty. With Andy Thomson out I would have guessed that Paul Furlong would take the penalty but up stepped Karl Connolly to score from the spot after the shot hit the post and went in.

Relief for Rangers and now time to go and win the game. Doudou came on to replace Connolly as we went all out for the win but we failed to convert the chances we created and had to settle for a point.

So a point gained for Rangers although it should have been three. The team are working well together and playing some good football. Things should get better when Oliver Burgess, Gino Padula and Clarke Carlisle come into the first team.
