The following is a summary of the
game posted by John McCookoe on the QPR mailing list
The line up for QPR was completely unfamiliar to me
bar Culkin in goal who had a good game against a useful Northwood
who were nevertheless matched by our 2nd string. We saw a lad jogging
up and down during the first half and thought that doesn't half
look like Richard Pacquette. It was him, he came on in the second
half and his workrate was good but he didn't do anything to suggest
he should be in the first team.
I guess Leroy must be off on trial somewhere as he
was nowhere to be seen. The only person who stood out for me was
Bean and that's mainly cos he scored the goal. Breacker was taking
the team whilst Olly, wearing 3/4 length trousers just seemed to
be following us around the touchline. He certainly wasn't watching
much of the game.
In the first half had a chat with a girl who as Travis
observed was indeed a footballer's wife, the husband being Basham
who was the trialist striker. She was quite cross with him as he
had turned down the chance of a three year deal at Preston where
he'd recently come back from injury. He had a trial at Aberdeen
but she hated it up there and she was desperate for him to get taken
on by QPR as it would be hugely convenient as they're both from
Southampton.
Alas, she will surely be disappointed as he was completely
hopeless, playing exactly like someone wanting a transfer in rather
than out. About 1000 people were at the game which will be their
highest crowd of the season probably and the club bar was jammed
afterwards.
