Goals from Sammy Koejoe and Chris
Plummer help Rangers to our first win of the new year against
High flying West Brom. West Brom looked very dangerous up front
with Hughes and Roberts having excellent games up until about
20 minutes. It was then that Roberts elbowed Bara in the face
and got booked. He should have gone off especially after his pushing
match with Carlisle. Roberts then lost the plot and spent most
of the game kicking Carlisle and looking less dangerous.
We had a few chances. A great ball
over by Perry ? (Could be wrong but it was from the right) and
Crouch volley was brilliantly saved and Peacocks follow up was
met with an even better save. Crouch then did very well to bring
the ball down and beat his man but shot wide and it all looked
promising.
The goal came after Richard Sneekes
only mistake of the match. He tried to play out of his penalty
area but Crouch closed him down and Plummer scored his first goal
for the club. It was goal Plummer deserved for a very good performance.
West Brom looked good going forward. A good run by Hughes was
met by a good save by Ludo before Ludo produced an excellent save
from Clement (who was booed which was a bit out of order after
all his dad did for the club)
Second half was crucial to our season.
The first ten minutes we looked nervous but West Brom didn't create
to much. We needed a change up front in my opinion and I would
have taken off Crouch who was having a poor second half and brought
Ngonge on. We kept going though even after West Brom put three
up front and got a brilliant winner.
Koejoe brought the ball under control
and spun away from what looked like three defenders and hit an
unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. A brilliant goal and
very deserved as Koejoe has been getting no credit for his hard
work in recent weeks. He has held the ball up very well for us
and if he can start scoring regularly we could have some player
on our hands.
After that it was all over. Roberts
should have been sent off for an assault on Carlisle and Langley
took the piss in injury time with some brilliant skill to make
Roberts look stupid again. Great result and something to build
on.
Man of The Match: Chris Plummer
Player Ratings
Ludo : Did well held onto every
cross and made some good saves at vital times.
Darlo : did better but didn't get
many crosses in and how he was named MOTM is beyond me.
Perry : Did very well on the right,
his best display of the season so far.
Carlisle : Wound up Roberts and
had a very good game at the back. Distribution was poor but nobody's
perfect.
Bara : Looked good in the back three
and organised those around him well.
Plummer : Excellent game in defence
and a deserved goal
Langley : Not at his best, played
deep due to Peacock and Connolly playing and was given a tough
time by Sneekes. He'll have to get used to teams recognising him
as the danger man which West Brom did today.
Connolly : Did well again, got
forward and never stopped working.
Peacock : Did his best in midfield,
has lost some pace but his presence was vital for us and he seemed
to help keep heads up in the second half.
Crouch : Decent first half but poor
in the second, his first touch was awful at times.
Koejoe : Excellent, deserved the
goal and his all round game was excellent
Subs
Morrow : Sad to see him booed but
he is still useless
Kiwomya : Not on for long and at
least gave us a different song to sing.
