Stockport 2 Q.P.R. 2

K.Bergersen C.Carlisle
A.Wilbraham R.Langley

Another poor performance but this time the result was not a defeat but a vital point.

Rangers were unchanged and welcomed back Ian Baraclough to the bench. For the first three minutes we did OK, and scored after a good cross from Pesch was cleared for a corner and Clarke Carlisle headed in Warren cross. It made the small Rangers contingent feel a win was on the way.

We then sat back, and it all went wrong. Ian Moore used his one trick which was spin off the defender and run into space before passing wide and we never worked out how to stop him. Stockport caused us so many problems from crosses, corners and throw ins all as a result of from Moore's trick.

They didn't have loads of clear-cut chances but a goal looked on the way and it wasn't long before our fears were realised. Lee Harper flapped at a shot and they scored for 1-1. The rest of the half was all Stockport, they should have been at least 4-1 up and were denied by a mixture of being as poor as us and an awful referee.

We played long ball all game and it was embarrassing, we resorted to just kicking them and Broomes and Warren were lucky not to be sent off. Richard Langley was accused of stamping on a Stockport player and County manager Andy Kilner was sent off for protesting to the referee.

First half ended with the ref being booed off and us Rangers fans too bored to boo our team off after a pathetic half of football. Second half was much the same, they were all over us got a deserved second. A couple of great subs by Gerry just before the goal. Morrow on for Connolly so we went six at the back, sat back even more and invited them to pump more crosses in, one of which they scored from. For some reason the scorer ran over to cup his ear to the terrace and a bottle was thrown at the idiot. It always make some sick to see players get away with that but if a player celebrates with his own fans he is booked.

Ian Moore then made a few hand gestures but no bookings or even a talking to from the ref and it was very unnecessary as we were giving them three points so why have a pop at us? Then Gerry brought on Koejoe for Warren to go back to what we started with, why not go 4-3-3 at 1-1 instead of waiting ten minutes? Answers on a postcard to Gerry Francis, Loftus Road, London W12.

Steve Morrow somehow missed a golden opportunity to equalise when he fired wide from seven yards before a completely unmarked Koejoe headed Paul Peschisolido's right-wing cross wide at the far post.

Koejoe then shot straight at Dibble after a good turn whilst Peschisolido fired over when he should have done better. Andy Dibble then produced a great save to deny Crouch, who met Broomes' cross with a firm header only to see the stand-in County keeper stoop to tip the ball around the post.

Despite these chances it was utter rubbish and if Stockport had any confidence they would have looked for a third instead of inviting us to come back and nick a point. But credit to the character we showed to equalise. A cross in to the box was punched out by Dibble and Langley hit a sweet shot on the half volley. The Stockport players claimed offside on Carlisle but as he was on the floor I can't see how he was interfering with play.

The only bright spark I can think of is that we didn't give up and got a point out of it. The team has relegation written all over it and sadly the players and manager just can't seem to see it and celebrated as if they had won the league.

Man of the Match: There wasn't one!
