A game that will be forever remembered
for two serious injuries and a protest against Chris Wright. It
was a local derby that we never looked like winning. A goal in
each half killed us off but Chris Kiwomya missed several easy
chances to get us a point.
The main news and disappointment
came in the first half. Clarke Carlisle went in for a tackle and
fell nastily on his knee. The stretcher was brought on and it
looked bad. It later emerged that Clarke had a crutiate knee ligament
injury and will miss the rest of the season.
Just ten minutes later the same
fate befell Richard Langley. Langley suffered a similar fall and
walked off but the injury was the same and this was the end of
Langleys season.
At the end of the game Chris Wright
was abused by some QPR fans which has seen him resign as chairmen
of QPR and he is refusing to attend any more QPR games this season
The following was posted on the
QPR Mailing List about Chris Wright and Gerry Francis and sums
up the mood after this game
Having seen a small group of
long-standing fans storm out of nowhere to abuse Tony Incenzo
the other night (funny) and then hurl abuse at the Director's
Box (not funny), I can't see any protests against Francis materialising.
It was a real case of turn yer clocks back to the Thomspon protests
with the very same people who were larging it then and hailing
Wright as the messiah not long ago now telling him to go.
Apparently, Wright should f***
off because he won't give Gerry money to spend and it's no wonder
Gerry has had enough. If Wright doesn't get his wallet out we'll
lose Gerry again and he's what's keeping us alive. He's 100% Rangers
and is being asked to work miracles. Heard that somewhere before
- seem to remember us having 3 England internationals at the time.
Incidentally, the chaps who stood near Nick Blackburn hurling
abuse and demanding to know where Wright was weren't to know that
for some reason, Wright chose to watch the match standing by the
VIP's gangway just behind the directors' area.
The guys had no idea as they
shouted and were then dragged away that Wright had been standing
a few feet away the whole time and saw and heard everything. People
then shouting abuse at Incenzo at the end of the match, pointing
at him and literally blaming him for the whole thing was both
funny and sick. Ironic that the people slating the ultimate Francis
apostle should accuse him of being the board's spin doctor when
these chaps have spent years reading about Gerry the warrior,
master tactician who digs up gems against the odds and loves his
Rangers and have swallowed every single word.
Two blokes were shouting at Tony
about the shite he puts on the website (they weren't referring
to it being 5 days out of date), when Gerry Francis is featured
on the site 3-4 times a week and Wright what...twice a year? Total
interviews with board members say 4-5 times a year? Amazing.
Just remember anyone planning
to protest against Francis - he's a diamond. Best manager we've
ever had and if only he had some money, we wouldn't be in this
mess. Wright must before we lose Gerry, our hero. It was always
going to come to this. From the moment Francis was allowed back
in it was a timebomb - only a matter of time before people were
protesting against Wright. That's how Francis operates. It's what
he did last time and he's shown he's prepared to drag the club
through the mire rather than have himself blamed.
Thompson was a weak man who knew
it was in QPR's best interests to get shot of Francis but was
more concerned with his own position and gave into him rather
than face the flak. Wright, I hope and believe, is for all his
bad points a stronger man and he has to do what's best by the
club and take action to stop it being dragged into the gutter.
There's a relegation battle on
and some young players in the middle of it. We can't afford to
have Francis lording it and trying to stir up the kind of crap
that happened before.
