Player Connections

QPR vs Wolves was a regular fixture up until our relegation in 2001 with Wolves having the better results against us.

In the 1998/99 season Ian Dowie took charge of the team went we travelled to Wolves. He brought around a great performance with Mike Sheron scoring both goals in a 2-1 win but he failed to land the managers job. The return game was not quite as great as they beat us 1-0 and Karl Ready was sent off.

The following seasons saw two exciting games between the two teams. I missed the home game as I was at my Uncles wedding but Gavin Peacock scored to win us a point early in the season.

The away game was a thriller as Wolves went into a three goal lead before half time with our old favourite Ade Akinbyi causing plenty of problems. We fought back through Peacock and Slade but couldn't get the point we fought so hard for.

Gavin Peacock continued his run against Wolves with both goals in a 2-2 draw a year later at Loftus Road during our relegation season. Our last game in Division one before our relegation was at Wolves. The fans protested against a proposed merger with Wimbledon and Paul Bruce earned us a point. After the game Alex Higgins, who was on a short term contract, celebrated with the fans as if we had won the European Cup rather than just been relegated to division two.

In 2004/05 we made the trip to Molineux in torrential rain. The pitch was virtually waterlogged before kick off and the game was a bit of a farce. Carl Cort scored twice for the home side in a game we deserved a draw out of. Kevin Gallen scored an excellent goal in the last few minutes but it wasn’t enough.

The return game saw Gallen back up front for Rangers after a long spell in midfield. He took his chance by giving us the lead with a well taken goal and Rangers dominated against a Wolves side who looked very poor. We managed to throw it away though when Carl Cort grabbed a late equaliser.

Last season Wolves thrashed us early on in the season as Carl Cort smashed in a hat trick. The return game was 0-0 as Paul Jones produced an excellent performamce.
