Alejandro Faurlin arrived at QPR in the summer of 2009
after being spotted by John Gorman on a scouting trip to
Argentina.
Gianni Paladini helped the complete the deal which could
be worth as much as £3.5million if pigs fly and QPR
win the Premiership.
Faurlin picked up an injury in pre season so didn't make
his debut for QPR until the away trip to Bristol City but
his sharp passing and eagerness to get stuck in made an
instant impression on the supporters that night. He started
the next home game against Nottingham Forest as Jim Magilton
looked to ease him into life in the Championship.
The more he played the better he looked though and by November
he was running games in midfield with a wonderful range
of passing and an intelligence out of possession where he
would get himself in excellent positions to stop the opposition
from breaking and set off another attack.
He was moved to the left wing for the last few games under
Jim Magilton where he struggled but even during the dark
days under Paul hart and Mick Harford it was obvious that
Faurlin remained our best and most creative player in midfield.
With a passing ability not seen since Ray Wilkins was
in his pomp at Loftus Road Faurlin grew in confidence as
the season wore on and finally grabbed a well deserved goal
during a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. He has shown
himself to b excellent on the ball, creative in attack and
a solid hard working destroyer as well, the complete modern
midfield player.
He finished the season being linked with moves to Celtic
and Serie A and Rangers will do well to keep hold of this
exciting talent in the years to come.
