Chris Barker joined QPR on a free transfer from Cardiff City in July 2007.

Barker began his career at Alferton before making a move to Barnsley in 1999 where he spent three years at the Yorkshire club. He moves to Cardiff City in 2002 and helped the club to promotion that season and played in the playoff final against QPR at the Millennium Stadium.

Barker had a decent season after promotion but found himself sent on loan to Stoke in 2004 where he did well. In 2006 he spent the entire season on loan at Colchester where he won the player of the year award and was highly rated by the fans.

He turned down a move to Colchester though to join QPR but was forced to miss the start of the season through suspension. His debut though turned into a nightmare as we were thrashed 3-0 by Southampton and his performance was one of the worst debuts I've ever seen.

Things didn't improve for Barker as he appeared to be running in slow motion at times before it was revealed he needed a hernia operation. After the operation he returned to the side and his performances since have improved as he begins to show his qualities to the QPR fans.

His first team chances have been limited since the arrivial of Delaney and he may find himself looking for a new club in the summer.
