19. Armel Tchakounte
Armel
Tchakounte was signed by QPR on a free transfer.
The
Cameroon international Armel Tchakounte signed a one-year deal after a trial with
the club. The 27 year old has previously played in Hong Kong and Africa and is
a defensive midfield player. Tchakounte
spoke to the official QPR web site and said:" It's a dream come true to sign
for an English club like QPR, I really enjoyed my time training with the team
during the last few weeks of the season and am glad I was rewarded with a contract.
QPR are a big club and I'm really looking forward to playing at Loftus Road for
the first time and helping the team next season.'' Speaking
on his new signing Gary Waddock said, "Armel shone in training and will be
a huge addition to this football club. He's a big, strong, powerful lad with great
energy and will be a key player for us next season.'' Chairman
Gianni Paladini also had his say and told the official QPR web site: "He can
run all day and has a never-say-die attitude. He will be a tremendous signing.
"Gary was really impressed with him in the three weeks he spent with us towards
the end of last season and coupled with the other players we hope to bring in
over the summer, we're really optimistic about the future.'' That
was what was said at the time but after seeing him play in a proper game rather
than training Gary Waddock decided he had seen enough and he has not played a
single minute of first team football this season.
