But First, An Apology Now on Sale

But First, An Apology - The Very Best Of AKUTR's (1987-2006) is now on sale and available to buy online.

To buy online you need an ebay account which is free and to set up.

Click here for the ebay page where you can purchase the book.

Although the page currently says only 10 are available I’ll put more on the page once they have sold out.

At the moment this is for UK sales only. I’ll set up a page for overseas sales once postage costs have been confirmed.

The eagerly awaited book can be purchased in several other ways detailed below in a message from the books editor Dave Thomas with all the details you need.

After many trials and tribulations, I am pleased - and relieved! - to announce that today marks the official publication of But First, An Apology - The Very Best Of AKUTR's (1987-2006).

In fact, the entire (albeit modest) print-run is sitting on a pallet in a warehouse in Cambridgeshire, waiting for collection. Which is what I will be doing tomorrow (Friday 21 July).

The process of dispatching and delivering it will begin tomorrow - some by post, some by me in person. I will also have copies for sale at Gillingham on Saturday, as well as continuing to deliver it over the following few days to those who have pre-ordered it.

Although the book will be readily available once the season has started properly, I will also be at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon (23 July) between 3.00-5.00pm if anyone wants to buy it. (Or indeed collect it.)

I hasten to point out that (to the best of my knowledge) there is nothing else going on at the ground this Sunday, but it's the best place I can think of making it available as soon as possible.

I shall be outside the ground on South Africa Road, looking faintly embarrassed about the whole thing, standing somewhere close to my fairly tatty blue T-reg Renault Laguna. I apologise in advance for what will be my fairly dishevilled appearance (well, more than normal), as I am likely to have been sleeping in it for the previous two nights, being 250 miles away from home and too skint for a hotel. Ditto if I turn up on your doorstep early evening early next week. That's not a sob story, by the way, just the reality of being poor!

A bit about the book, if I may. It is, as the name suggests, a collection of the best writing from the fanzine from the past 20 years, mixed in with snippets and various asides.

One thing we have been able to do is reduce the cover price of the book. It is now priced at £19.95. (All those who pre-ordered will be refunded the difference). It is A4 size - i.e. the same size as ordinary printer or photocopier paper.

And the book is a fulsome 600 pages. I appreciate word count might be of little interest to the non-editors out there (that's just me then!) but at nearly half a million words, it is well over three times the volume of an average novel.

But First, An Apology can now be ordered on-line at Dave Barton's site www.queensparkrangersfc.com

Or if you wish to purchase it by post (allow 7-10 days for delivery), you can do so by sending a cheque for £26 (to include postage and packing), made payable to KICKABOUT PUBLISHING, to: 23 New Mount Street Manchester M4 4DE
